Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use Trainer Plus for the workshop to be useful?

No, you do not have to use Trainer Plus for the workshop to be useful, since we will focus on a range of online services that can be delivered with any number of tools. The focus is to give you a framework to evaluate all online services that you do and can offer and come up with the right mix of services. Whatever you use to deliver streamed classes, content and virtual training sessions is still applicable for this workshop. The biggest help Trainer Plus will be is in helping to deliver workout programming as a service, along with some other content subscription options and ways to generate leads from free content. Whether you use Trainer Plus or a comparable app for this, we will not be focusing on the specific functions of Trainer Plus.

What new online services will be covered in the workshop?

We will cover online content (informational videos, blogs, etc), streamed classes, workout programming and virtual training. The focus will be on how you can develop a range of online services for your specific brand and market that will allow you to engage more of your current customers for service, convert more into paid services and ultimately reach out to new markets.

What new markets will I be able to reach out to with the help of this workshop?

After developing a new range of services, we will also focus on how you can use this new value proposition to sell to markets outside of your geography, run challenges to generate new sales and leads, and effectively engage with the healthcare and corporate wellness markets. Trainer Plus has done a lot of research and work over the years on how fitness can work on these last two markets and will share more information and tools in the workshop.

What is ‘Lean Startup’ methodology? Why will it work for my business?

The ‘Lean Startup’ method was developed in Silicon Valley and is used by technology and innovation companies both big and small when innovating new ideas. The most successful companies in the world use this method when developing technology, marketing and sales plans, strategies and processes. It follows the principles that the key to successfully developing new things is in taking things from idea, into a first version of the product/service for customers to test, then measuring how they react, learning from that, and then iterating on the product or service. The faster this feedback loop can happen, the better the product/service can be optimized and scaled. It takes a data driven approach and using customer insights, as opposed to trying to get something perfect before taking it to market. If you have ever heard the phrase ‘fail fast and learn’ or the idea of having a ‘product development cycle’, this is part of ‘Lean Startup’.

Will I be able to implement this in 4 weeks?

Yes, the framework is designed to be put into place in 4 weeks to get to a first version of the new services, and from there you should have the tools to keep developing it.

Why will this help if online services have not worked so far?

This will help because you probably launched those online services as a way to adapt to the pandemic, without having done too much research. This was a first part of taking what you were doing in your gym and putting it online to try to retain as many members as possible. With the realities of the pandemic now sinking in and the business model for gyms forever changed, you need the right service offering to evolve your business to this new world and consumer expectations. The online world is exponentially more competitive, so you need to make sure you have a process in place to find your best markets and where new revenues will come from.

What do I get with the Trainer Plus credit in the future?

For the fees you pay for the workshop, you can apply them towards enterprise licensing for Trainer Plus. This could cover two months of a facility license to get started if the technology proves to be the right tool for the services you want to offer.
